This blog is more of a celebration of the future and maturity than Swan Song to my second decade of life. Some crazy things happened to me leading up to turning 30, including the devastating ending of my engagement to the love of my life. I’m talking about it all. Turning 30 doesn’t have to be scary and it certainly does not have to be a hard deadline for major life events (marriage, children, homeownership, six-figure income). Turning 30 may not even involve me having some divine revelation or a greater insight on life, like some people swear it’s going to be. Let’s deconstruct the myths of 30. Let’s laugh and talk about what turning 30 really means: what we’re willing (and glad) to leave behind in our 20s and the people we look forward to growing into being beyond the big 3-0.

  5. I hate to breake it to you, but if you are going into 30 then you are leaving behind the third, not the second, decade of your life and actually going into your fourth one.
I’m a jerk, I know it. Sorry. No ofense

  6. Oh how I am glad I stumbled on your blog on a grey Friday morning. I get you…totally. Started my blog before I hit 28 last year and found myself single. It has been a blast writing and it’s getting better as I hurtle towards 30. Love your words! I think 30 and onwards is going to be awesome!

    • Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I think it’s been an interesting journey so far. Everyone makes a big deal out of 30. Some people told me they were crying when they turned 30 because their life wasn’t what they thought it would be. Your life isn’t ever going to be what you thought it would be. Some days it’s going to be better and some days it’s going to be worse. You can’t put crazy expectations on yourself. I’ve enjoyed writing this blog so much. Thank you again! I’m going to totally check out your blog.
